Dr Gary Deed is a medical practitioner working in Brisbane, Queensland. He graduated from the University of Queensland in 1985 and has worked in primary care for many years. He has a background of study and qualification in Herbal medicine and is the current President of the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine. He is the current Chair of the Australian College of Natural Medicine's Human Research and Ethics committee.

Dr Deed has been a consultant lecturer on complementary medicine most recently for the University of Queensland undergraduate course, and RMIT Nutritional medicine courses. He is an Academic Board member, and College Council Member of the Australian College of Natural Medicine. Dr Deed has been active in many educational forums to improve the knowledge and evidence base surrounding complimentary medicine.

Having developed type 1 diabetes, he has also been involved in supporting diabetes charities since 1995 and has been National President of Diabetes Australia since November 2006. Dr Deed is an Australian member to the International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region and also a Board member of the Diabetes Australia Research Trust.
