Picture of Ms Karen MartinKaren Martin has been in private practice as a naturopath in Adelaide since 1991 and is Director of the Australian Centre for Natural Health and Wellness, a multidisciplinary complementary and allied health clinic at Norwood in South Australia.

Karen has lectured in naturopathy at various teaching institutions since 1991. In 2003 she was appointed as the first Lecturer in Naturopathy at the University of South Australia, where she also participated in research projects in CAM. In addition to her qualifications in naturopathy, Karen completed a Masters degree in Distance Education at Deakin University, where her minor thesis utilized a needs analysis approach to determining curricular requirements for degree-upgrade programs for naturopathic diploma graduates. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program at Southern Cross University in which she is researching unarticulated learning processes in naturopathy.

Karen is a Director of the Federation of Natural and Traditional Therapists (FNTT), and is immediate past president of the Australian Naturopathic Practitioners Association (ANPA). In these roles she developed and implemented the Quality Practice Standards for Professional Associations and Quality Standards Assessment Committee for the FNTT, a process which ensures accountability and transparency of professional associations applying for membership of the FNTT. She has been a member of numerous complementary medicine consultative committees, including the National Industry Reference Group for development of the Health Training Package.
