Independent review of the GT Act

The inter-governmental Gene Technology Ministerial Council received the report of the independent review panel on the statutory review of the Gene Technology Act 2000 and the Gene Technology Agreement 2001, in Melbourne on 27 April 2006. The report has also been tabled in the Australian Parliament by the Hon. Christopher Pyne MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Ageing.

A response to the report and any amendments to the Act will be determined by all nine governments in order to maintain consistency between the Commonwealth Act and corresponding State and Territory laws.
