International visitors & training

Dr David Graham and Dr Rohan Hammett attended the US Food and Drug Administration 100th Anniversary Ceremony in Washington DC in November 2006.

In November 2006, Dr Graham also visited the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) of China and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicines (SATCM) in Beijing.

The Deputy Commissioner of the Chinese SFDA and the new Head of the Indonesian National Agency of Drug and Food Control (NADFC) visited the TGA in November and December 2006 respectively. Both delegations had extensive discussions with the TGA on future collaboration on the regulation of therapeutic products.

Over the past few months, the TGA has hosted a number of short-term visits by officials from Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Botswana.

The TGA provided training to government officials from Malaysia and China on a cost recovery basis or with financial sponsorship from the World Health Organization, AusAID or the trainees' own governments in the areas of the regulation of medicines (GMP and advertising control) and medical devices.
